Which JBL PartyBox Should I Buy: PartyBox Encore 2 Plus vs. On-The-Go 2 Plus

September 15, 2026

Two JBL PartyBox speakers, one shared superpower: real-time AI vocal removal* that turns almost any song into a karaoke backing track. The choice between the JBL PartyBox Encore 2 Plus and the JBL PartyBox On-The-Go 2 Plus comes down to two things: how many people are singing, and how far the party needs to travel. The Encore 2 Plus ships with two wireless EasySing mics in a compact, stay-at-home build, made for duets and full-house sing-alongs. On the other hand, JBL’s On-The-Go 2 Plus comes with one mic, a handle, and a shoulder strap, built for hangouts that move past the front door, from a barbecue at the chalet to a beach trip.

Here's what this JBL PartyBox comparison covers: what each speaker brings to the table, how they compare for karaoke, home parties, and outdoor use, and a specs table to help you choose the right one.

Meet the Two Speakers

Before getting into use cases, here's a quick look at what each JBL party speaker offers.

JBL PartyBox Encore 2 Plus

The JBL PartyBox Encore 2 Plus keeps a compact, cube-shaped build, small enough for a shelf or console table, with a flexible handle for carrying it room to room. It ships with two wireless EasySing mics, so duets and group sing-alongs don't call for a second mic purchase. A hundred watts of JBL Pro Sound with AI Sound Boost fills a living room without distortion, and a dynamic light show keeps the energy going once the singing turns into dancing.

JBL PartyBox On-The-Go 2 Plus

The JBL PartyBox On-The-Go 2 Plus takes on a longer, boombox-style shape, built around a centre handle and a wider, padded shoulder strap for carrying beyond the living room. It comes with one wireless EasySing mic, enough for a solo set or to pass around a smaller group. It runs on the same hundred watts of JBL Pro Sound and up to 15 hours of playtime as the Encore 2 Plus, built for anyone who wants the party, and the singing, to leave the house with them.

What Is the Best JBL Speaker for Karaoke?

EasySing AI vocal removal is built into both speakers, stripping the lead vocals from any song in real time while keeping the backing vocals right where they belong. The real difference between the two comes down to how many people can grab a mic at once.

The JBL PartyBox Encore 2 Plus ships with two wireless mics, so duets, sibling showdowns, or a full table of relatives taking turns at a CNY reunion dinner don't need an extra mic purchase, and nobody has to wait their turn. The On-The-Go 2 Plus, on the other hand, comes with just one mic. That's plenty for a solo performance or a mic passed from singer to singer at a smaller gathering, but it isn't built for two people harmonising at once like the two-mic Encore 2 Plus.

Which JBL Speaker Is Best for a Party?

Both are party speakers at heart, but at home, footprint and soundstage tend to matter more than how easy a speaker is to carry. The Encore 2 Plus's compact, cube-shaped build tucks onto a shelf or side table without eating up floor space. Its hundred watts of JBL Pro Sound with AI Sound Boost fills a condo living room or a void deck gathering with clean, undistorted sound, and its two mics keep the party going without a pause to swap gear between singers.

The On-The-Go 2 Plus holds its own indoors too, but its longer shape, centre handle, and shoulder strap make it clear it's just as happy heading out the door as staying in for the night.

Which JBL Speaker Is Best for Outdoor Use?

Outdoor hangouts call for something that's easy to sling on and tough enough to handle the occasional splash, and this is where the On-The-Go 2 Plus comes into its own. Its handle and shoulder strap make it easy to carry to a park, beach, or backyard gathering, and an IPX4 splashproof rating shrugs off light rain or an accidental spill along the way. The Encore 2 Plus is just as splashproof and portable via its own flexible handle, but it's built more for carrying from room to room than for a trek to the beach.

Which One Should You Get?

Both speakers share the same EasySing AI vocal removal, JBL Pro Sound, and up to 15 hours of playtime, so the decision isn't really about sound quality; it's about how many people are singing and how far the speaker needs to go.

If karaoke night at home with a full house of singers is the goal, the Encore 2 Plus's two mics and shelf-friendly build make it the easier pick. If the plan is to take the party to a park, beach, or a friend's living room, the On-The-Go 2 Plus's strap and single mic are built for exactly that.

However you land on Encore 2 Plus vs. On-The-Go 2 Plus, both are ready to headline your next karaoke night. Browse the full lineup in our party speakers collection, check out more karaoke-ready picks in the EasySing Mics lineup, or head straight to the JBL Online Store to grab yours.
